Discuss some of the common uses of JQ tests. Do you think that IQ tests should be used for these purposes? Does the Flynn effect alter your thoughts about the uses of IQ tests? Explain.

Write a paper in which you explore some of the statistical data that has been found in this area of study. Additionally choose and answer one of the four questions below in a focused and clear manner. Remember to integrate the statistical data in the article that discusses this topic.
1.Which explanation do you favor for the Flynn effect: that people are getting smarter or that people are merely getting more practice at the skills measured on IQ tests? Defend your opinion.
2.The rise in performance on IQ tests contrasts sharply with a steady decline in performance over the past few decades on many tests that measure factual knowledge, such as the SAT. Think of several possible ways to explain these contrasting results, and form an opinion as to the most likely explanation.
3.Results on IQ tests tend to differ among different ethnic groups. Some people have used this fact to argue that some ethnic groups tend to be intellectually superior to others. Can such an argument still be supported in light of the Flynn effect? Defend your opinion.
4.Discuss some of the common uses of JQ tests. Do you think that IQ tests should be used for these purposes? Does the Flynn effect alter your thoughts about the uses of IQ tests? Explain.

What about your rate of speech? How long did it take you to form your thoughts?

There’s not much that I can do with you in this course that will allow you to feel some of the frustration that students with speech or language deficits encounter on a daily basis. But, I did come up with one simulation. For a period of 1 hour, I want you to make normal conversation, but during this hour, you are not to say a word that has the sound /r/ in it. You should do this at a time when you will have occasion to speak, however, you may not want to do this in the working environment. When you have finished the simulation, write a 2 page paper describing how the simulation affected you. Did it cause frustration in you? In others? What about your rate of speech? How long did it take you to form your thoughts?

What are all the Marketing related terms and concepts that you were able to glean from the documentary?

What are all the Marketing related terms and concepts that you were able to glean from the documentary? They would not be spelled in as many words, but I expect you to interpret them given the context.

Here is an abbreviated example: Build a superior product (the first P) and customers will beat a path to your door (better mousetrap). The Product/production era. The Ulfberht was “cutting edge” technology.

There are many such marketing concepts that you can talk about. Please make references to the documentary when you write about them. ALso, make connections to International marketing as the VIkings used these swords for trade or attack with/of foreign nations.

I hope to get some really good and illuminating/reflective answers.

Here is an example of how you would write/expand your answer:

The first “P” of marketing is PRODUCT. In the PRODUCT ERA of marketing, all that the manufacturer had to do was produce. As long as the manufacturer was producing a high quality product, it would sell (you can have a Ford car in any color, as long as it was black). Also, customers would have to wait a long time after paying in order to get their order fulfilled. Similarly, the Viking Sword Ulfbehrt, was cutting edge technology and was not manufactured in large numbers. Supply was limited and was probably expensive. Therefore, it was in high demand by the rich and ambitious warriors. In the PRODUCT ERA, a manufacturer had to build a better mousetrap. There were enough mousetraps in the market and customers were picky. They knew which one was the best and would demand the best. The U was the best sword and its performance meant the difference between life and death for the wielder. So warriors wanted the better sword. Just seeing the name on the sword afforded special attention and respect to the warrior who carried it and it also made the opponent weak in the knees even before starting the battle.
