Aristotle describe his god as a being whose activity is perfect. This perfect activity is thinking. And what does god think about? God thinks about himself, Aristotle says. His activity is thought thinking itself. Does it make sense in Aristotle’s own terms to describe the Aristotelian god as alive? Aristotle says that his god is perfectly alive, but why does he say this? What more might we expect of a god who is “eternally alive” besides thinking about himself? Could Aristotle’s god be the same as the Bible’s god? Why not?
