Read the section in your book entitled, “Going Public.” Use the Presidential Holdings – National Archives (click on the blue) to address the following items.
After browsing the presidential libraries online, give one major example of a former president “going public” and making systematic appeals to the public in order to seek support for a presidential proposal to Congress. What was the proposal? Was he successful? What were the keys to his success/failure? Give examples of the specific techniques and tools that he used.
