It seems to be unlocked, and no one is around. Using Kohlberg’s work as a guide, what do you think is going through Billy’s mind?

Billy (9 years old) cuts through the parking lot of a supermarket on the way home from school. In the bike rack by the wall he sees a beautiful racing bike that he really wants. It seems to be unlocked, and no one is around. Using Kohlberg’s work as a guide, what do you think is going through Billy’s mind? What action(s) do you think he will do next?

Are there comparable measures that can be taken in labor markets to decrease the number of “substitutes” for some types of labor? If so, what are the measures? Can you provide an example?

We’ve seen that monopolistic-ally competitive firms will try to differentiate their products in order to eliminate substitutes. Are there comparable measures that can be taken in labor markets to decrease the number of “substitutes” for some types of labor? If so, what are the measures? Can you provide an example?

Identify and describe the stages of team development.

Write a 100- to 200-word response to each of the following:

  •  In what kind of teams have you participated?
  • How is communication in a team different from one-on-one communication, according to the text?
  • What are some advantages of teamwork? What are some disadvantages? Be specific.
  • Identify and describe the stages of team development.
  • How might stronger team skills benefit you? How might you use teamwork skills in your job? Provide specific examples.
  • What is it like to participate in a virtual meeting, such as web-based, teleconference, and so forth? Describe three ways in which this type of participation is different from participating in a face-to-face meeting.

How do you know when it is appropriate to treat patients yourself and when to refer them to emergency care?

The treatment of prophylactic shock varies depending on a patient’s physiological response to the alteration. Immediate medical intervention and emergency room visits are vital for some patients, while others can be treated through basic outpatient care.

Consider the January 2012 report of a 6-year-old girl who went to her school nurse complaining of hives and shortness of breath. Since the school did not have any medication under her name to use for treatment and was not equipped to handle her condition, she was sent to an emergency room where she was pronounced dead. This situation has raised numerous questions about the progression of allergic reactions, how to treat students with severe allergies, how to treat students who develop allergic reactions for the first time, and the availability of epinephrine in schools. If you were the nurse at the girl’s school, how would you have handled the situation? How do you know when it is appropriate to treat patients yourself and when to refer them to emergency care?

To prepare:

  • Review “Prophylactic Shock” in Chapter 23 of the Huether and McCance text, “Distributive Shock” in Chapter 10 of the McPhee and Hammer text, and the Jacobsen and Gratton article in the Learning Resources.
  • Identify the multisystem physiologic progression that occurs in anaphylactic shock. Think about how these multisystem events can occur in a very short period of time.
  • Consider when you should refer patients to emergency care versus treating as an outpatient.
  • Select two patient factors different from the one you selected in this week’s first Discussion: genetics, gender, ethnicity, age, or behavior. Reflect on how the factors you selected might impact the process of anaphylactic shock.

How does your measured -3dB frequency (fc) compare to your design critical frequency? Give some reasons why it is different.

  1. You are taking a measurement of a signal from a sensor with high frequency noise. In order to not amplify that noise through your instrumentation system, you decide to use a RC filter with a cutoff frequency (critical frequency, fc) of 1kHz after the sensor and before the amplification.
  2. What kind of RC filter do you need? Design the RC filter. Be sure to use standard resistor and capacitor values and specify the tolerance. Show all work.
  3. Construct the circuit using Multi sim. Use the tolerances which you specified in your design.
  4. Use the multi function generator for the input and use both channels of the Tektronix virtual scope to display the input and output voltages.
  5. Create a table of your input and output voltage at dc, 250 Hz, 500Hz, 750Hz, 1kHz, 5kHz, 10kHz, 50kHz, 100kHz. Measure additional frequency points in order to get a nice set of data for the drop off. Be sure to capture several screenshots of the Tektronix virtual scope.
  6. Given the output voltage at dc, what is the voltage 3dB down? In other words, what is the output voltage at the 3dB point? You should calculate this.
  7. Using your simulation, change the frequency of the input voltage until the output voltage is that associated with your 3dB point. What is the frequency of the signal? That is your critical frequency. Take a screenshot of the scope. Add these measurements to your table. Also, put in your report this frequency. What is this frequency called?
  8. Create a plot of your data (you can do this easily in Excel) and copy and paste the plot into your report.
  9. Questions:
  10. Does your circuit attenuate the signal at high frequencies? What is the attenuation at 10kHz?
  11. How does your measured -3dB frequency (fc) compare to your design critical frequency? Give some reasons why it is different.

Please fill out and use the following Lab Report Template when submitting your lab work.
