Note; I  got  a comment,I would suggest that you look more closely at the PPACA and the MHPEA. The MHPEA mandated that insurers treat mental health treatment the same as physical health treatment so that mental health care was accessible to all.  The ACA expanded the MHPEA but neither of them “offered services”.

I think it would be helpful when you write your papers for the classes to have a friend or fellow student look at them and provide some feedback on the clarity of your sentences.  I’m just giving you a heads up because I think you may need some assistance with your writing.  You can also submit papers to the on-line writing center with MU and they can assist with editing.

MH-08 BELOW ASSIGNMENT.

 

Briefly respond to the following two questions.  Your responses and your participation in the group discussion will be worth points. 

 

1. In your opinion, how can we ensure that persons with mental illness get appropriate treatment in the community?  What suggestions do you have to improve the mental health system.  For example, should psychiatric hospitalization be more readily available?  

1. Think about the issue of whether jails should be used as mental health treatment facilities.  Should treatment be available in jails?  If so, who should provide it and what kinds of treatment should be available.  Are there better ways than jail time to treat persons with mental illness who commit low level crimes?

The Database Design Proposal assignment consists of several parts which are due in various modules throughout the course. The assignment will also be referred to in some of the other individual assignments within the course. Module 1 discussion focused on data types and their categories and some challenges and strategies of dealing with data. In this Database Design Proposal, you are required to design and develop a database which will be used to compile and report distilled information using clinical health care data. The Proposal Outline is the initial step of this assignment.

Create a short outline of about 250–500 words of the project proposal. In the outline, briefly define and describe the scenario for which the database will be designed, the major problem(s) that the users in the given scenario would solve, and any other additional components of a standard project proposal outline that are needed. Utilize the following outline as a guideline:

1) Title Page

2) Abstract: A summary of the whole proposal in about 75 words.

3) Introduction: The introduction should explain the situation, the cause of the problems, the statement of the project problem, and definition of terms.

4) Solution: This should include the objectives of what needs to be created to solve the problem and achieve the proposed outcomes. Identify the limits of the project and outline steps required to meet the above stated objectives.

5) Resources: What resources will be required for this project?

6) Budget: What is the estimated budget?

7) Users (Personnel/Credentials): Who are your users? What are their competencies?

8) Conclusion: This part should clearly point out the value of the project with emphasis on feasibility, necessity, usefulness, and the benefit of the expected results.

 

Design a database schema for the proposed Database Design Proposal in Module 1.

Identify and list all relevant entities and their relationships:

1) Select no less than five entities.

2) Provide a diagram.

3) Map this to a database schema.

4) Provide a data dictionary for all entity attributes.

Focus on one or two areas of your design that seemed especially difficult to develop and provide a brief assessment of the difficulty you encountered in modeling or mapping to the schema. In addition, provide the rationale for the design chosen, its limitations, and its possible extensions.

Tip: If you do not have access to ER modeling software or a diagramming tool like Visio or OmniGraffle, you can simply create diagrams in a presentation tool like PowerPoint. This is an essential skill which is used in the field.

APA format is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.

Is there a significant relationship between time of commute and general life stress?

1. To investigate the relationship between a person’s commute time to work and general life stress, a health psychologist interviewed people about the time they spend in their daily commute to work (in minutes) and had them fill out the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) (http://www.macses.ucsf.edu/research/psychosocial/pss10.php), with scores ranging from 0 (no perceived stress) to 10 (high perceived stress). Is there a significant relationship between time of commute and general life stress? Choose the correct test to analyze this question, set up the SPSS file, and run the analysis. Follow the directions under the table on the following page.

Symbols of culture are called artifacts. Artifacts are the most visible and accessible level of culture. These include behaviors, stories, rituals (everyday practices that are repeated frequently), and symbols (e.g., company logos, company colors). For example, the president of a company volunteering at Habitat for Humanity is an artifact of culture. An example of symbols as an artifact of culture is Ashford University’s shield that serves as our logo and is printed on transcripts, diplomas and letterhead paper. Submit a two- to three-page paper (excluding the title and reference pages) describing the culture of either your current or past place of employment.

Your paper should provide examples of and address each of the following topics:

• Observable artifacts
• Espoused values (These are what organizational members say they value, like ethical practice.)
• Enacted values (These are reflected in the way individuals actually behave.)

In addition, describe how each item listed above impacts the values and culture of the organization.

Select an environmental problem that you can observe in your local community (i.e., air pollution, noise, traffic, waste disposal, water control, construction, crowding).

Prepare a 1,400- to 2,000-word paper in which evaluate strategies for promoting positive environmental behavior using your selected environmental problem. As a part of your paper, be sure to also address the following items:

• Evaluate at least two strategies for promoting positive environmental behavior.
• Explain how positive and negative consequences can increase pro-environmental behavior. Provide examples.
• Describe at least one positive and one negative example of how technological advances have impacted the environment.
• Assess the influence of environmental policies.
